Police officers in the North East have urged the public to download a free personal safety app that protects users from domestic abuse and violent attacks. The Hollie Guard app notifies your emergency contacts in times of danger and sends your precise location – as well as audio and video evidence – to their devices.
Plans for a dog exercise park in Darlington have been approved. Following an increase in demand for such facilities, the council welcomed the plans to allow dogs to run and play safely in a field off Roundhill Road in Hurworth.
A new community hub could soon be coming to the Sherburn Hill area in County Durham. The new leaseholder of Sherburn Hill Methodist Church off Front Street wants to make the building more accessible to the community and bring it up to date, with the aim of establishing a hub that can be used as a ballet and music school as well as other daytime activities.
