ROADMAP RESPONSE: local businesses respond to the latest lockdown announcement
We are still in a lockdown, so for the Prime Minister's roadmap to keep to it's schedule, it is vital that we continue to abide by coronavirus guidelines. Should all go to plan, it looks like we'll be back to normal by June, with some hospitality venues expected to reopen their doors in April. Let's take a look at the local reaction to the news we've all been waiting for.
Local council leaders have backed the government’s gradual approach to easing lockdown measures, after Boris Johnson revealed the long-awaited roadmap, and have warned residents to vigilantly stick to the rules over the “tough” weeks still to come to ensure that they can be lifted on schedule. Leaders of the LA7 group of North East councils said they feel this is “as close as we have been since this pandemic began to finding a way through it”, but added: “Let’s not blow it now.” They went on to say that the government’s roadmap was “sensible but it needs to be kept under constant review”.
