NEWS ROUNDUP: Covid cases down & schools reopen fully
The coronavirus infection rate in the North East has reached its lowest point since last September.
North and South Tyneside and Sunderland all have an infection rate lower than 107 per 100,000 people, whilst Newcastle, Gateshead, Northumberland and County Durham have all fallen under 94 cases per 100,000 people.
A Darlington Borough council meeting has heard how digital exclusion is still an issue for many children in the North East. Around 55,000 families across the region don't have access to a computer for home learning, which is expected to continue in some instances where pupils will be asked to self isolate.
Schools reopen fully
