SUPER SATURDAY: England look to finish strong against Ireland

England will be looking to end their Six Nations campaign with a bang when they travel to Dublin to take on Ireland on super Saturday.

Eddie Jones’ side may have surrendered their title but an excellent performance last time out against France certainly provides fans with some positivity.

The 23-20 victory at Twickenham saw some exceptional rugby played by both sides as England emerged on top.

An Ireland win will see them finish above England in the final Six Nations standings, making for an intriguing contest on super Saturday.

Team News

Elliot Daly will replace Henry Slade against Ireland following a calf injury picked up by Slade in training.

This will be Daly’s first international start at outside centre since 2016, having been a replacement full-back in last weekend’s win over France.

Daly will partner captain Owen Farrell in the centre, while Max Malins will get his second start at full-back.

Prediction

We spoke with journalist Ross Heppenstall ahead of the match to get his thoughts on England’s Six Nations campaign:

“It’s not been a great campaign so far but that win against France was an excellent performance. The first half was one of the best 40 minutes of test match rugby that you are likely to see.

“The players know they’ve got to perform to keep their place in the team moving forward and there certainly won’t be any let up.

“England need to win in Dublin and it will be a very tight game. It’s about quick ball for England and playing free flowing, expansive rugby.

“I think they have got the artillery to go there and get the win.”
