MISSING MEN: Prostate Cancer UK want to find potentially thousands of men who have undiagnosed prostate cancer

Over the past year, prostate cancer referrals in the North East and North Yorkshire have fallen by 28%, this is around 8,000.

This has caused concern for prostate cancer UK, who believe there are potentially thousands of men across the country who should have started treatment, but haven't been diagnosed with the disease.

Contributing factors associated with the disease are age, with men over 50 most at risk. A family history of prostate cancer can also increase the chances of developing the disease. Men from black communities are also more susceptible, with one in four receiving a diagnosis in their lifetime, compared to one in eight for white men.

At prostatecanceruk.org you can find a 30 second risk checker to help men understand their risk of the disease and help to find the ‘missing men’ who should have started treatment during the past year.
