A third wave of coronavirus infections sweeping across Europe could end up affecting those in Britain warns Boris Johnson.
In an interview during a visit to Preston, the PM said “Previous experience has taught us that when a wave hits our friends, it, I’m afraid, washes up on our shores as well and I expect that we will feel those effects in due course.”
The Prime Minister was also asked about whether threats by the EU to block exports of vaccine supplies to the UK could hit the rollout here.
“I’m reassured by talking to EU partners over the last few months, they don’t want to see blockades, I think that’s very very important,” the Prime Minister said.
Johnson also confirmed that as it stands, Britain would be continuing with its vaccination rollout as previously laid out in his roadmap - with the export fears not looking to hit current progress.
