STAY LOCAL: Redcar & Cleveland council urge residents to stay local & stay safe

STAY LOCAL: Redcar & Cleveland council urge residents to stay local & stay safe

Enjoy the borough but please stay local and stay safe - is the message as restrictions ease

Residents enjoying where they live in Redcar and Cleveland are being urged to stay safe and continue to follow the Government guidelines as the weather forecast improves in the run-up to the Easter weekend.

More people are expected to take advantage of the new guidelines as Government advice changes from ‘stay home’ to ‘stay local’. Covid Ambassadors will continue to be on hand in the borough to offer advice to both businesses and residents.

“Continuing to work together in a sensible way where we all stick to the clear guidance is essential so we keep our new freedoms,” said Councillor Steve Kay, Cabinet Member for Health, Housing and Welfare.

“We’re basically asking people to use their common sense. There are no shortage of stunningly beautiful places to enjoy throughout our borough. People can stay local and enjoy where they live. The rules on social distancing, wearing masks, cleaning your hands and so on are well known and haven’t changed just because the rules have relaxed a bit. We can’t ruin the progress we’ve made now - let’s stick together and all stay safe.”

The Stay at Home rule was lifted today, Monday 29 March, and mean up to six people or two households may meet outdoors. However, most restrictions – which are underpinned by law - remain in place. You must not socialise indoors with anyone you do not live with or have formed a support bubble with. You should continue to work from home if you can and minimise the number of journeys you make where possible. You should get a test and follow the stay at home guidance if you have COVID-19 symptoms.
