HYBRID WORKING: North East IT specialists TruStack believe the future is hybrid work

Hybrid working

At the height of lockdown, around 60% of UK adults in work found themselves working from home. On average, these people are saving just over £44 a week on things like commuting and buying lunch. In a year, this is a saving of around £2,288. Around two thirds have said they have found themselves to be more productive when working from home, but one in five have reported feelings of loneliness. To strike a balance, TruStack - an IT services provider in the North East - believe that most companies will adopt a hybrid way of working as we leave lockdown, asking employees to split their time between working from home and heading into the office. It is believed that this will help some people strike a more fulfilling work life balance and help towards improving mental health.

Phil highlighted that for those employees who face long, stressful commutes on a daily basis, and for those with particular family circumstances the working from home model has been a real game changer. But this does present challenges around self-discipline, with people having to make sure they are working enough without overdoing, which can happen when away from the office.

Fewer people in the office does mean fewer people in the high streets, visiting shops and food outlets, which could have a negative impact on town and city centres. But, if this year has shown us anything, it's just how adaptable businesses can be.
