NATIONAL NEWS ROUNDUP: Ministers back PM over covid comments & Greece to welcome Brits with NHS card

Work and Pensions Secretary Therese Coffey has rebuked reports that Prime Minister Boris Johnson last year said he would rather "let the bodies pile high in their thousands" than impose a third lockdown.

The PM has denied the accusations, whilst Labour have condemned them.

Coronavirus vaccines are now being offered to those aged forty two and over across England. It's the second time this week that booking has been extended to more people in their forties, and comes as figures showed over half of the UK's population had now received their first dose.

Greek tourism ministers have said Brits who have been fully vaccinated will be able to enter the country using just their handwritten NHS card. The cards will be accepted whilst the UK and EU work on a new digital health certificate to unlock summer international travel across the bloc.
