EVERY QUESTION MATTERS: Dispelling the myths around the COVID vaccine

Every Question Matters, especially when it comes to the coronavirus vaccine. This new initiative in the North East hopes to help you feel more confident when going to get your jab.
What is a vaccine? What are the side effects? And why should I get it? These might be just some of the questions you've asked yourself over this past year. The fact is, every question matters when it comes to your health, and health bosses in the North East are doing everything they can to help you feel confident and well informed when you go to get your coronavirus jab. You can find out more here.
Concerns around vaccines aren't anything new, and have been around since the very first iterations of vaccines came about in the 1700s.

But the UK's anti vaccination rhetoric gained significant momentum in 1998 when a since disgraced doctor published a now retracted and debunked study claiming that the MMR vaccine causes autism. Multiple studies since have found no connection whatsoever between autism and vaccines.

Concerns around developing rare blood clots after having the COVID vaccine are also leading to some hesitancy, which has led to certain jabs being halted for some age groups.
As it stands, the likelihood of developing a blood clot after the vaccine is around 0.0008%. The potential long term effects of getting covid and the risk of death due to virus mean that scientists, health bosses and experts in the field are certain that getting vaccinated is in everyone's best interest.
