NATIONAL NEWS ROUNDUP: Hospitality leaders write to PM & Wales eases restrictions
Leading lights in the hospitality industry have written to the Prime Minister criticising the decision to non-essential retail five week before bars and restaurants.
Punch Taverns founder Hugh Osmond and Greater Manchester's night time economy advisor Sacha Lord have said the industry is losing £200m a day. The government have insisted lockdown easing must be cautious.
Barbers and hairdressers have opened in Wales for the first time in 2021. In the first major easing of lockdown restrictions across the country, primary school pupils are also returning to the classroom.
Hand sanitiser has been added to the list of items used to calculated the cost of living. According to the Office for National Statistics, the cost of workplace canteen meals has been dropped, but home exercise equipment added.
