Coronavirus hospital admissions are on the decline in the North East.
The weekly infection rate for the region has also dropped, from 158 to 134 per 100,000 people.
A project from The Word in South Shields has seen the release of a pandemic inspired song using the forgotten words and phrases of the region. Local singer songwriter Jen Stevens took on the task of penning a Geordie folk song, using language suggested by members of the public that would have been common place at the shipyards and mines in days gone by.
Surge covid testing in Middlesbrough comes to an end after thousands of people came forward. Extra testing was introduced after one case of the variant first discovered in South Africa was reported in the town. Provisional data indicates 3,366 people were tested, with 50 tests coming back positive.
