Aldi is seeking to extend the hours it can sell alcohol for in its Middlesbrough stores which would mean it could increase opening hours.
However, the changes are not set to come in immediately and are to allow the store to change its hours over the year if it is required.
An Aldi spokesperson said: “There are no plans to make permanent changes to the opening hours of our Middlesbrough stores.
“The licensing applications are to give stores flexibility during seasonal periods.”
The supermarket chain has requested permission to extend its hours at its stores on Marton Road and Newport Road.
Currently, the Marton Road store is licensed to sell alcohol between 8am to 11pm Monday to Saturday and from 10am to 10:30pm on a Sunday and from 8am to 11pm daily at the Newport Road store.
It has requested permission to serve alcohol from 6am to midnight every day at both of its stores.
At present, both of the stores are open from 8am to 10pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on a Sunday.
There is also another Aldi store in Middlesbrough on Dalby Way in Coulby Newham which has the same opening hours as the other stores, though it has not submitted a licensing application.
If anyone wanted to comment on the applications then they will need to email email@example.com by October 25.
