TRICKY GAME: Klopp has tough task facing Graham Potter and Brighton

Jürgen Klopp says facing Brighton is one of the "trickiest games" in the league due to the job Graham Potter has done with the Seagulls.

The Liverpool boss admitted that Potter will challenge his side as he heaped praise on his counterpart ahead of the weekend's clash.

Klopp expects Brighton to be a "real threat" when they arrive at Anfield and insisted his team must be "spot on" defensively.

"They [Brighton] are a real threat," Klopp said. "They try to create, they defend well, they've conceded only nine - four of which was in the last game.

"To keep the ball like they did and to pass the ball like they did against [Manchester] City is a really difficult thing to do and they did it.

"We know what they are capable of but we are not City. We play slightly different. We want to cause them problems.

"We lost the game against Brighton here [last season] so that's another warning sign, not that I needed it. Anfield will be packed and that helps us usually.

"This is not a game where you dominate an opponent, they will have their moments. That says everything about the quality of Brighton.

"We have to run a lot, we have to close gaps, we have to be really spot on defending wise and then obviously with the ball as well."

Klopp is a big admirer of Brighton boss Potter, who he called a "top class manager", and he made that clear once again.

"I couldn't respect more what Graham is doing there. I'm a really big admirer of his work," he added.

"It was also difficult [to play Brighton] since he's been there and you have to say he's a top class manager."

Klopp will be up against a former player he also spoke very highly of in Adam Lallana when the Reds meet Brighton on Saturday.

Lallana left for the South Coast when his contract expired in 2020 and the Reds boss said he was "one of the best players" he'd ever worked with.

When Klopp arrived at Liverpool, Lallana was already a part of the squad and the two clearly grew close based off their interactions since the now Brighton midfielder left.

However, in terms of selection for his midfield for the Brighton game, Klopp says Naby Keita looks good and may be available.

Keita was stretchered off after a horrendous tackle from Paul Pogba on Sunday but the Reds boss seemed to hint he may be available to play.

James Milner also left the pitch in that game and is expected to miss the match this weekend.

Fabinho's fitness situation was described as "complicated" by Klopp and he also confirmed Thiago is still not fit to play in this game with Brighton.
