Circus Extreme: How the Director went from hot dogs to Bigtop
Anthony Anderson was born and raised in Hartlepool where he sold hot dogs after leaving school, now, he is the Director of one of the most famous circuses in the world, Circus Extreme.
It's an age old adage that everyone wants to run away and join the Circus, but for one North East lad
that dream turned into reality. In fact, not only did he run away and join the Circus, he also bought not
one but two of Europe's largest Circuses.
Anthony Anderson was born & brought up in Hartlepool and when he left school he took a job in Newcastle's Big Market selling Hot Dogs. He soon decided that he had bigger dogs to fry and moved onto marketing, joining a local poster distribution Company.
One of his first assignments was distributing posters for The Moscow State Circus, 10 years later he and two friends purchased the world famous Circus.
Still expanding, he decided to tour a second Circus and a Stunt show, 2 years ago this evolved in to Circus Extreme.
After the success of the 1st year of Circus Extreme, it was stopped by Covid-19 and mothballed for a year - that is until now, where Circus Extreme has returned to its home in Newcastle!
Anthony said “once we had the green light to reopen, Newcastle was the first venue I wanted to go to, with the new Circus Extreme show now bigger & better than ever”.
The show is currently touring, and will be in Newcastle’s Nuns Moor Park every day until June 27.
